Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is designed to help individuals become better acquainted with the personality gifts they were born with, and how these make them unique.

The MBTI profile will also demonstrate the ways in which people differ. This allows us to appreciate how people can work individually or as part of a team to achieve the best outcomes.

What the MBTI Measures

The MBTI is a questionnaire designed to assess a person's preferences along the four dimensions of Extraversion-Introversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling and Judging-Perception:

Where we prefer to focus our attention & get energy

Extraversion / Introversion

The way we prefer to take in information

Sensing / iNtuition

The way we prefer to make decisions

Thinking / Feeling

Our orientation to the external world

Judging / Perceiving

Text Box:

From knowing these preferences, it is possible to anticipate how a person will normally prefer to act in a variety of different situations. It is also possible to anticipate how a person will typically prefer to approach many aspects of their work.

MBTI Workshops

When individuals understand their type preferences they are empowered to approach their work in a manner that best suits their own style.  Through participation in a team building workshop this understanding then translates to greater cohesion within teams in terms of:

time management

problem solving

decision making

dealing with stress

effective team participation

coping with workplace changes

Who Should Attend?

Managers, supervisors, leaders and team members who want to optimise their team’s performance.

Challenge Consulting offers two workshop options which will enable your staff to apply the MBTI to teamwork and lead to greater success in the workplace. Your return on investment will be seen on a daily basis as an understanding and appreciation of type:

facilitates more effective communication with colleagues and clients,

assists in dispute resolution,

maximises team effectiveness, and

assists in the retention of staff.

Understanding self & others using the MBTI

Feedback from Past Participants

"The feedback I received from each of our MBTI participants regarding the way the meetings were conducted, the way the facilitator drew out the various preferences, and the facilitator’s ability to get them to talk to about themselves was nothing but positive. The further sessions you conducted with each of them to establish their personal development initiatives also had them marvelling at your ability to keep them on track, see past their bravado and to get them to admit that change was necessary if they were to develop and advance in their careers.

The way the facilitator explained and then expanded on the results to arrive at a valuable individual and group working document that can be assessed on an ongoing basis is the true value of this whole exercise. The facilitator made the group feel very comfortable regarding what the reports indicated, and they left the room feeling that the next step was a natural and welcome progression.

I have been able to use the outputs as a performance appraisal for each individual, combining the operational initiatives that are a part of our normal business with the personal learning development plan to conduct very in depth appraisal sessions."

Chris Forde, Chief Operating Officer, WesTracPty Ltd

“Rachel Jamieson did an excellent job in taking a group of managers in our organisation through identifying and discussing their MBTI profiles. She pitched the discussion at the right level and ensured it covered both individual and team profiles. We were extremely happy with the outcomes and look forward to the team working as a stronger group.”

Managers from a major NGO

"Our MBTI workshop was very interesting, and beneficial in understanding and resolving some internal personality conflicts.”

“Our MBTI workshop was a great way to learn more about our colleagues and improve the ways we relate to each other.”

“Our MBTI workshop was both entertaining and full of meaningful content. It was a worthwhile exercise, and the highly responsive facilitator did an excellent job.”

"Excellent session. Exactly what I was looking for in terms of group activities and content.  Congratulations to Mary on a job well done – thank you!"
