We partner with Federal and State governments and large energy users to deliver value through integrated and comprehensive services from strategy through to implementation, covering carbon advice and assistance with climate change mitigation and adaptation management, energy efficiency, emissions reporting, renewable energy assessment and procurement and strategic sourcing
About the role
A significant portion of this consulting role will involve policy and carbon risk strategy development.  Advising to numerous leading ASX listed companies and governments at Federal and State levels you will help to develop long term energy and carbon management strategies, climate change policies and positioning statements. Examples of  Energetics’ work in this space includes:

  • The modelling of abatement opportunities, on behalf of the department of Environment and Energy, to give them a better understanding of the types and scale of abatement opportunities available over the period to 2030. This work was extensively referenced by Greg Hunt, in his capacity as Minister for the Environment. We expect policy work to focus on energy in the near term as the National Energy Guarantee develops and state based initiatives accelerate 
  • Sustainability Strategy development for ASX200 clients including forecasting and backcasting processes. 
  • Linking strategy with reporting processes including aspects of science based target setting and supply chain assessment

You will work across all of Energetics’ solutions: strategy and policy, carbon and energy markets, energy efficiency and productivity, energy accounting and reporting and audit. The mix of assignments will depend on your skills, aptitudes and passions and your ability to help us win work in the respective areas.
This role is initially a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave and can be based out of our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office. Ideally this position will be full time but we are focussed on having the best person for the role so welcome discussion regarding flexible and/or part time arrangements.
About you
The ideal candidate will have:

  • a strong proven track record of policy analysis and development
  •  ideally a background in law or economic analysis however if you can demonstrate passion, experience and an aptitude for working in our space we welcome your application
  •  at least 5 years professional experience, preferably in a consulting environment
  •  strong time management skills; as with all consulting roles at Energetics this position will offer an ever changing range of interesting assignments so you will need this expertise to enable you to meet the high expectations of our clients
  •  experience with, or an aptitude for, business development; Energetics doesn’t have a separate business development function, instead we task all of our consultants with winning and delivering work; experience in this area will be viewed favourably
  •  a demonstrated passion for the environment, either through work, studies or your personal endeavours
