Innovation award reveals ‘fresh
approach’ to recruiting
A finalist in the Western Sydney Industry Awards has been recognised
for developing an antidote to tough times in the recruitment industry.
Smaller recruitment operators face increasingly difficult trading
conditions. Shifting value perceptions wrought by Internet job boards
and low cost, ‘hit & run’ recruitment by multinational
recruiters have undermined the traditional, personal approach to
recruiting.
Challenge Consulting, a finalist in the Western Sydney Industry
Awards for Process Innovation, has hit back by challenging conventional
recruitment models. The new service offering is called Synergy Selection
Options. It deconstructs the normal components of recruitment into
fee for service options so that their clients may “Use and
pay for just some of the parts.”
Synergy Selection Options is designed to complement clients’
existing human resource capabilities and to meet bottom line expectations.
Clients pick and choose from an extensive range of shortlist; added
value; psychometric testing; and consulting services.
Managing Director of Challenge Consulting, Elizabeth Varley, feels
clients who want to retain control over part of the process or those
who have strict budget constraints welcome the approach. “Since
launching in July last year, we have won several new Synergy Selection
Options clients. Had we offered only traditional services they would
simply have gone elsewhere.”
“The prospect of direct Internet recruiting or cut-price
multinational recruiters is influencing clients’ value perceptions.
Synergy Selection Options works because it blends the clients’
industry knowledge with our recruitment expertise for a quicker,
more cost effective result,” she said.
The Western Sydney Industry Awards are an initiative of the NSW
Government's Office of Western Sydney and are recognised as the
most strategic regional awards in Australia. Now in their sixth
year, these annual Awards articulate the key drivers of growth for
businesses and the region and have proven to be a powerful catalyst
for change. Award winners will be announced on April 30th.
